What is Vancouver Coffee Prices?
Vancouver Coffee Prices is an independent community project that scrapes and normalizes whole bean coffee prices across local Metro Vancouver roasters, specialty importers, and retailers. It allows you to sort and compare coffee on an equal basis (Price per 100g, per lb, or per kg) to find the best value beans in the city.
How often is the pricing data updated?
Pricing and inventory are scraped and updated automatically twice daily directly from publicly available roaster online stores.
How do you normalize prices across different bag sizes?
Roasters sell coffee in various sizes (e.g. 250g, 300g, 340g, 12oz, 1kg, 2lb, 5lb). We convert every product's package weight into grams and calculate standardized metric and imperial rates: Price per 100g, Price per lb, and Price per kg. This ensures a 300g specialty bag can be fairly compared against a 2lb bulk bag.
Why do you only track whole bean coffee?
Whole bean coffee preserves peak freshness, tasting notes, and quality. Ground coffee stales rapidly due to oxidation, and specialty roasters recommend whole beans for home brewing.
What are the "Best Value" and "Roaster Direct" labels?
Direct Roaster designates coffees sold straight by independent Vancouver specialty roasters (DTC). Best Value highlights coffees with the most economical price-per-100g ratio in the dataset.
